happy hour oysters | black jack bar | logan circle

The monthly girls happy hour kicked off 2012 at Black Jack (upstairs bar of Pearl Dive Oyster Palace). Oyster happy hours are definitely one of my favorites (see here and here). We feasted on buy 6, get 6 free oysters that were deliciously fresh and low on the brine. Black Jack’s happy hour, which runs from 4 until 7 (I think), also includes $5 house red, white, or sparkling white wines.

My only heads up about the Black Jack happy hour is that it is apparently not identical to the Pearl Dive Oyster Palace happy hour. Although the brother-sister restaurant run the same drink and oyster specials, apparently the shrimp po’ boy (which is part of Pearl Dive’s happy hour specials) is not part of Black Jack’s happy hour. Unfortunately, we did not learn this until our tab arrived . . . and were then informed that the shrimp po’ boy isn’t even on Black Jack’s menu (?).

Despite sort of spotty and odd service, I really loved the bar. It has great food, I liked the casual vibe, and it seems like it could be a really fun place to go on the weekends. And I am definitely bumping Pearl Dive up on my list of places to try for dinner.
